Edge Design Associates, Inc. was formed by Ron Thomas and Daniel P. Mooney after working together since 2000. The business is a Corporation licensed to practice architecture in the state of Michigan. Dan and Ron were principals at Luckenbach|Ziegelman Architects Ann Arbor, PLLC until Carl Luckenbach closed his practice in December of 2012. During their time at LZA Ann Arbor, they worked on a diverse range of project types from smaller scale sustainable projects to large scale public projects including libraries and parking garages, higher education buildings, corporate offices, mixed-use projects and a high technology office park.

Prior to his work at LZA Ann Arbor, Ron served as Executive Vice President for MAVDevelopment, a real estate development company working in Michigan and Colorado. Ron successfully completed over twenty commercial development projects and numerous capital improvements. Prior to that Ron owned a successful architectural practice for 15 years until the firm was purchased by MAVDevelopment. Ron has practiced as a principal since 1990, has over 30 years' experience in the profession and is licensed in the state of Michigan.

As Principal at LZA Ann Arbor, Dan managed the day-today operations of the firm and served as project manager for all of the firm's projects, maintained client relations and headed up the firm's sustainable design initiatives. Prior to that, he was a Senior Associate at Hobbs & Black Architects for 12 years where he specialized in healthcare projects throughout southeast Michigan and the greater Lansing area. Dan has over 25 years' experience in the profession and is licensed in the state of Michigan.

Edge Design Associates provides architectural, planning and graphic design services for commercial and institutional clients, collaborating with other professionals as necessary to serve the specific needs of our clients. Whatever the challenge, our most rewarding projects share similar traits:

Daniel P. Mooney

Edge Design Associates, Inc.

Dan has practiced as a principal since 2002 and has over 25 years' experience in architecture covering a broad spectrum of project types including mixed-use projects, corporate offices, branch libraries, structured parking, research laboratories, multi-family residential, health care and public projects. Prior to co-founding Edge Design he was a principal at the Ann Arbor Studio of Luckenbach Ziegelman Architects, PLLC where he managed the day-to-day operations of the firm. Under the tutelage of Carl Luckenbach, FAIA, Dan was the managing principal for many of the firm’s major commissions including Library Lane Underground Parking Garage, Malletts Creek Branch Library, Pittsfield Branch Library, and South State Commons Office Park.

Dan believes that every project should be led by a principal and he is actively engaged from beginning to end. He is especially adept at developing, conveying and maintaining project budgets and schedules and he is accustomed to managing the project process in a manner that achieves our client’s goals and exceeds their expectations.

Ronald L. Thomas

Edge Design Associates, Inc.

Ron Thomas has practiced as a principal since 1990 and has over 30 years’ experience in architecture and design. He has been principal-in-charge of diverse projects including schools, offices, governmental, and retail facilities. His work has ranged from major multi-building developments to renovation and tenant improvement projects. Prior to starting Edge Design, Ron was founding principal and owner of Archetype, Inc. and a principal with Luckenbach Ziegelman Architects, PLLC. In addition to regular architectural practice he has served as owner’s representative and program manager for MAVDevelopment, a local real estate investment company. While at MAVD he successfully completed numerous new mixed-use buildings and site development projects as well as other existing building improvements. The experience representing landlords and building operators has made him a skilled advocate for building efficiency and long term durability.

Jamie R. Galimberti

Jamie has 8 years' experience in architecture & design as well as 6 years in digital media production. Jamie graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan’s undergraduate architecture program. In his time at the University of Michigan, he earned several competitive awards and his work was recognized in the 2006 architecture student show. In addition, some of his design work is published in Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning annual publication, Dimensions 22. Jamie has a fresh perspective on architecture, in tune with current and approaching design trends as well as sustainable architecture. He is dedicated to technology’s role in architecture and continually explores new, increasingly efficient and effective methods of design and visualization.

Jamie works collaboratively with the Project Team to develop graphics that convey the design intent of the project. Jamie is especially adept in representing the design through digital media including 3D renderings, diagrams, animations, and presentation materials.
